Planning for Print at the Design Stage
Experienced print designers know that a planning session with your printer during the design stage can eliminate costly surprises and ensure that the results you and your client expect are achieved.
Budget your creativity
- Know what your budget is.
- Obtain production quotes early in the design stage.
(Provide a sample layout if possible.)
- It is frustrating for everyone if the design you create turns out to be too expensive to produce.
- Always budget for proofs.
(Ink draw downs, stock samples and mock-ups are usually free.)
- Designing the piece to fit on a particular press or to take advantage of standard sizes may save money.
