Will the finished piece be mailed?
- If mailing, restrictions on weight, size, shape and content of the finished piece may apply.
- Use a mock-up of the final piece to determine the weight and postage rate in advance.
- Have the post office approve the mock-up of the final piece before you go to press.
Money Saving Tips
- Always ask your printer to share the tricks of the trade to help keep costs down.
- Inquire about "combo" runs.
- Ask about imprinting and storage of masters.
- Responsibilities can become big issues. Who is responsible for issues such as typos, color, and approval of the final proof or press check should be clearly defined.
- Have the client "sign and approve" your work before you go to press.
- Schedule a press check and, if applicable, another for finish work.
- Do not go to press if you are not happy with your proof.
