Pre-made envelopes are generally less expensive for smaller quantities, but cannot be printed with more than 2 colors, and may not have bleeds. Also, on certain designs, ridges from the overlaps on the back may show in heavy coverage areas.
Converted envelopes can be more expensive for small quantity runs, but do allow you to use more than 2 colors (or process), and have full bleeds. Note: on designs that wrap around from the the back to the front, the alignment can vary up to 1/16".
